The band's current status.

During the summer of 2010, the band went on a hiatus, due to Benjamin's recurring illness. In June of 2011, a remixed version of one of the bands first written songs titled Blow Me Away featuring Valora was released. Later in August the band released a Greatest Hits album titled Shallow Bay: The Best Of Breaking Benjamin.

Benjamin ended up firing bandmates Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski due to the two releasing the remixed version of Blow Me Away without Benjamin's consent. Benjamin is looking to at least sue the two and receive $250,000 and the rights to the bands name. Whenever the lawsuit is over, Benjamin plans on moving forward with the band and wants to start making music again.

Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away (Original Song)

Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away (Remixed Version, Featuring Valora)

For me, Breaking Benjamin has been my favorite band since I was in seventh grade, and no matter what their issues might be, I'll always be a loyal fan. I've seen the band in concert a total of three times and met the whole band at one of the concerts. Benjamin is a big inspiration in my life with everything he's been through and still is continuing to pursue his dreams of making music, despite the issues that have gone on in the past. I'm that much of a devoted fan that I even have their logo tattooed on my wrist!

This band has gotten me through a lot of obstacles in my life. All of their songs have many different meanings to me. Some being sad, angry, and funny. I've never had this much of an attachment to a band like I do this one. I'm sure when I'm eighty years old they'll still be my favorite! Music has always been a passion for me (always a listener, but never an actual musician) but this band is my passion. If I could spend one day with the band, and Benjamin himself, I'd have so many questions to ask them. There is never a day that I don't listen to at least one song by the band. Whenever I hear the band on the radio I get so pumped up and turn it up loud, not caring if people hear it or if they hear my awful singing! This band will always hold a special place in my heart.

Dear Agony

On September 29, 2009, the band released their fourth and most current album titled, Dear Agony. The first track that the band released off of the album was titled I Will Not Bow.

The video contains scenes from the movie titled Surrogates.

The song had gotten a tremendous amount of airplay for the band, and still does.

Benjamin had admitted to the public his problems with alcohol, and stated that this was the first album that he had wrote and recorded where he was completely sober.

“Lyrically this album is more thought out. I would let things slide when I was drunk,” Burnley said. “None of that is happening here. In the past I would get a song most of the way done and just throw something in to finish it off. It’s a lot more clear here.” Quote from site

Ben has also stated in the past that the songs he write have meaning to him, but what he feels they mean could mean something completely different to what the listeners could be thinking.

The next single released off of the album was titled Give Me A Sign.

On February 16, 2010 the album was certified Gold by the RIAA.

Their next single titled Lights Out was released, but no music video had been recorded for the song.

Phobia

After the release of the bands full length sophomore album, We Are Not Alone, the band released their third full length album titled, Phobia. Benjamin titled it that because he himself has plenty of phobias that he's never been able to overcome. One big one that kind of affects their fan base is his fear of flying. He's never been able to fly anywhere, not even in the United States. Whenever the band has gone out on tours, their way of getting there was by bus. Since Benjamin has this fear, the band has never toured outside of the United States or Canada. Their most successful song off of the album was titled The Diary Of Jane.

This hit song reached number four on the U.S. Modern Rock Charts.

However, the biggest hit off of the album was titled Breath.

The song reached number one on The Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.

On April 17, 2007 the band re-released Phobia. The album featured footage from a concert that they had. The album reached number 38 on The Billboard 100.

On May 21, 2009 the album reached RIAA Platinum Status. The album sold over one million albums in the U.S. alone.

We Are Not Alone

The next major song that Breaking Benjamin had released that was a major song for them was called So Cold. This song spent 37 weeks in the top 20 of the Billboard charts.

This song was a big hit for the band, it was released off of the bands Sophomore album titled, We Are Not Alone. This album was released on June 29, 2004.  The song So Cold reached number 2 on the United States Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. The band then released their next single titled Sooner Or Later and had recorded a video for it since it was getting good radio play.

Sooner Or Later reached number 2 on the Mainstream Rock Charts.

Another song that had a fair amount of popularity for the band was titled Rain although the band had not recorded a music video for the song, and didn't reach a high number on any of the charts, it was certainly a big hit among the bands loyal fans. Sooner Or Later and Rain were written by Benjamin himself, but also had a co-writer which was Billy Corgan of the band The Smashing Pumpkins.

August-September of 2004, the bands member, Jeremy Hummel was unable to play with the band due to the birth of his child, so the band granted him a leave of absence. This ran into an issue for the band as they did not pay him while he took off. He was also not paid for the recording of their current album. When he returned to the band in September, he was fired, so he took the band to court. After the firing, the band had hired a temporary replacement and brought in Ben "B.C." Vaught until they hired Chad Szeliga in 2004.

We Are Not Alone achieved Platinum Status in mid-2005.

Introduction/Saturate

The topic that I will be working on is an Alternative/Rock band, called, Breaking Benjamin. So I'm going to take the time by informing whomever may read this a little bit about the band. First, I will start off by showing a picture of the band:

Breaking Benjamin originates from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The band was formed by the lead singer, Benjamin Burnley. At this current time, the band is on a bit of a hiatus and consists of Benjamin Burnley and Chad Szeliga. The two most recent members of the band consisted of Aarron Fink and Mark Klepaski. Benjamin is the lead singer/rhythm guitarist. Chad is on the drums/percussion. Also, when Aaron was in the band he was lead guitarist and Mark was the bass guitarist. Past members of the band have consisted of: Chris Lightcap (drums/percussion), Nick Hoover (bass guitar), Johnathon "Bug" Price (bass guitar/backing vocals), Jeremy Hummel (drums/percussion). The band formed in 1998, which at the time consisted of Benjamin Burnley, Aaron Fink, Nick Hoover and Chris Lightcap. Later, in 2002 the band was signed to Hollywood Records and released their first full length album which was titled, Saturate on August 27, 2002. With that being released came the success of their first mainstream song titled, Polyamorous.
